BACKGROUND

After completing my undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering at the University of Cambridge, I came to MIT to get my PhD in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering. I followed this up with a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University in Atmospheric Chemistry Modeling, before joining LAE as a Research Scientist and later Principal Research Scientist with the MIT Center for Global Change Science. I’m now a member of the faculty at Imperial College London’s Department of Aeronautics, as part of the Brahmal Vasudevan Institute for Sustainable Aviation.

RESEARCH

My research is dedicated to understanding how and why aerospace emissions affect the environment, and to using that knowledge to develop new methods to reduce those impacts. I’m motivated by the desire to make the benefits of the aerospace sector equally available to all – including reducing the magnitude and inequity of its negative environmental effects.

EXPERTISE

  • Atmospheric modeling of combustion emissions, including chemistry and dynamics
  • Development and application of multi-scale computational models of the atmosphere
  • Integration of observational data to improve scientific understanding and model accuracy
  • Global environmental impact assessment of longer-lived emissions
